Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work Vow To Increase by David Whittaker was worth GBP 52,920.00 (€ 62,255.34) to a buyer in May last year. This price was achieved in the auction Wired: Online Auction at Phillips in an online auction and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by David Whittaker; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Self Portrait Four, Jewel Box (The Broads, Thunder Showers, Late Afternoon, A Young Girl in Reflection, Poetics of the Past Never Forgotten) sold at auction in March 2018 with the realized price of GBP 81,250.00 (€ 92,507.61).
