Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work Welcome to the Bank of Collateral Hearts by David Whittaker was auctioned at Phillips in London in December this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 8,890.00 (€ 10,240.94). Admittedly, works by David Whittaker have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Self Portrait Four, Jewel Box (The Broads, Thunder Showers, Late Afternoon, A Young Girl in Reflection, Poetics of the Past Never Forgotten) in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 81,250.00 (€ 92,507.61).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit Welcome to the Bank of Collateral Hearts von David Whittaker im Dezember diesen Jahres bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 8.890,00 (€ 10.240,94) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von David Whittaker auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Self Portrait Four, Jewel Box (The Broads, Thunder Showers, Late Afternoon, A Young Girl in Reflection, Poetics of the Past Never Forgotten) im März 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 81.250,00 (€ 92.507,61).
