Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Barnett Newman: the paintings by David Diao was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 60,000.00 (€ 6,248.28). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Diao achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Twin Dragons in May 2019 with an auction result of HKD 1,250,000.00 (€ 143,062.16).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Barnett Newman: the paintings von David Diao im Mai 2005 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 400.000,00 – 600.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 60.000,00 (€ 6.248,28) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von David Diao erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Twin Dragons im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 1.250.000,00 (€ 143.062,16).
