This artwork by David Boyd achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Melbourne in April 2006. In the Australian, International & Contemporary Paintings Part II auction, the work Gathering Firewood For Kitchen Stove sold for AUD 26,290.00 (€ 15,812.74) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Boyd - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Monoliths, 1962, which sold at auction in May last year for AUD 51,045.00 (€ 47,567.79).
