Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Miss Annabella Powlett Smith, bust-length by Daniel Gardner was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2019. The price achieved of GBP 2,375.00 (€ 2,607.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Daniel Gardner achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Mary Whitbread, Later Lady Grey (1770-1858) in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 233,000.00 (€ 330,315.74).
