Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work View Interior, New Highway Restaurant, Jersey City, NJ (diptych) by Dan Graham was auctioned at Phillips in New York in July 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,500.00 (€ 2,123.32). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dan Graham achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Empty Shoji Screen Pergola / Two-Way Mirror Container in March 2019 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 55,131.81).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit View Interior, New Highway Restaurant, Jersey City, NJ (diptych) von Dan Graham im Juli 2020 bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.500,00 (€ 2.123,32) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Dan Graham erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Empty Shoji Screen Pergola / Two-Way Mirror Container im März 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 47.500,00 (€ 55.131,81).
