Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Dan Flavin could be acquired at Christies in New York in July last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Edition auction, the work for one walled circular fluorescent light (to Heiner Friedrich) changed hands for USD 2,772.00 (€ 2,717.11) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dan Flavin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Alternate Diagonals Of March 2, 1964 (To Don Judd) in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 3,077,000.00 (€ 2,255,865.10).
