Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work 1948-H by Clyfford Still was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000,000.00 – 20,000,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 9,882,500.00 (€ 7,596,079.94). Admittedly, works by Clyfford Still have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 1949-A-No . 1 in November 2011 with an auction result of USD 61,682,500.00 (€ 45,850,367.95).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit 1948-H von Clyfford Still im November 2012 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000.000,00 – 20.000.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 9.882.500,00 (€ 7.596.079,94) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Clyfford Still auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 1949-A-No . 1 im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 61.682.500,00 (€ 45.850.367,95).
