Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait Of Alfred Stieglitz by Clarence H. White was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 60,000.00 – 90,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 56,250.00 (€ 44,354.20). Other works by Clarence H. White have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in April 2008 by the work Telegraph Poles at USD 103,000.00 (€ 66,161.36).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait Of Alfred Stieglitz von Clarence H. White im Oktober 2008 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 90.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 56.250,00 (€ 44.354,20) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Clarence H. White wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im April 2008 die Arbeit Telegraph Poles mit USD 103.000,00 (€ 66.161,36).
