Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Chuck Close could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in November 2017 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Art Day Auction auction, the work Frank changed hands for USD 112,500.00 (€ 94,553.71) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chuck Close achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Gwynne in May 2004 with an auction result of USD 2,807,500.00 (€ 2,298,027.34).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Chuck Close konnte im November 2017 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction wechselte die Arbeit Frank für USD 112.500,00 (€ 94.553,71) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 120.000,00 – 180.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Chuck Close erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Gwynne im Mai 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.807.500,00 (€ 2.298.027,34).
