In April 2018 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art, which included the work Lotus In Reflection Series by Chua Ek Kay. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 200,000.00 (€ 21,103.20), 33% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Chua Ek Kay have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Archipelago 1, 2, & 3 in November 2015 with an auction result of HKD 875,000.00 (€ 106,868.96).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 33 % übertroffen
Im April 2018 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Lotus In Reflection Series von Chua Ek Kay zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 200.000,00 (€ 21.103,20) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Chua Ek Kay auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Archipelago 1, 2, & 3 im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 875.000,00 (€ 106.868,96).
