Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Chris Ofili could be acquired at Phillips in New York in November this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session auction, the work The Almighty Shadow changed hands for USD 38,100.00 (€ 34,928.49) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chris Ofili achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Holy Virgin Mary in June 2015 with an auction result of GBP 2,882,500.00 (€ 4,064,288.82).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Chris Ofili konnte im November diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session wechselte die Arbeit The Almighty Shadow für USD 38.100,00 (€ 34.928,49) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Chris Ofili erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Holy Virgin Mary im Juni 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.882.500,00 (€ 4.064.288,82).
