Auction result well in line with expectations
In September this year Phillips in 19 - held the auction Heatwave: Online Auction, which included the work Afternoon with la Soufrière (Prelude 4) by Chris Ofili. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,016.00 (€ 1,016.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chris Ofili achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Holy Virgin Mary in June 2015 with an auction result of GBP 2,882,500.00 (€ 4,064,288.82).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September diesen Jahres führte Phillips in 19 - die Auktion Heatwave: Online Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Afternoon with la Soufrière (Prelude 4) von Chris Ofili zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.016,00 (€ 1.016,00) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Chris Ofili erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Holy Virgin Mary im Juni 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.882.500,00 (€ 4.064.288,82).
