It achieved a price of GBP 3,048.00 (€ 5,101.31), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 69%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chris Ofili achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Holy Virgin Mary in June 2015 with an auction result of GBP 2,882,500.00 (€ 4,064,288.82).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 69 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Afro Lunar Lovers I von Chris Ofili kam im Januar 2024 bei Phillips in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 3.048,00 (€ 5.101,31) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 69%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Chris Ofili erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Holy Virgin Mary im Juni 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.882.500,00 (€ 4.064.288,82).
