Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Bound and Gagged (Blue) by Chris Ofili was sold in the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale, London auction at Christies in London in July last year. The price achieved of GBP 44,100.00 (€ 52,663.23) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chris Ofili achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Holy Virgin Mary in June 2015 with an auction result of GBP 2,882,500.00 (€ 4,064,288.82).
