This artwork by Charles Robinson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2004. In the British and Continental Watercolours including Original Book auction, the work An illustration for The Big Book of Nursery Rhymes: Ugly duckling sold for GBP 1,075.50 (€ 1,522.13) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500.00. Admittedly, works by Charles Robinson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Illustrations for Aesop's Fables: The fox and the bunch of grapes; and The fox with the cropped tail (both illustrated) in December 2004 with an auction result of GBP 5,019.00 (€ 7,103.27).
