Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Palais Des Papes, Avignon, C. 1853 by Charles Nègre was sold in the Photographs auction at Sothebys in London in May 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 13,826.61) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Charles Nègre have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Versant de la colline avec cascade et personnage (Slope of the hill with waterfall and figure) in October 2017 with an auction result of USD 112,500.00 (€ 96,583.10).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Palais Des Papes, Avignon, C. 1853 von Charles Nègre wurde im Mai 2014 in der Auktion Photographs bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 13.826,61) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Nègre auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Versant de la colline avec cascade et personnage (Slope of the hill with waterfall and figure) im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 112.500,00 (€ 96.583,10).
