Sold at the upper estimate price
In May 2014 Sothebys in London held the auction Photographs, which included the work 'Arlésiennes', C. 1853 by Charles Nègre. The auction ended at the price of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 18,435.48), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Charles Nègre have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Versant de la colline avec cascade et personnage (Slope of the hill with waterfall and figure) in October 2017 with an auction result of USD 112,500.00 (€ 96,583.10).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Mai 2014 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'Arlésiennes', C. 1853 von Charles Nègre zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 15.000,00 (€ 18.435,48) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Nègre auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Versant de la colline avec cascade et personnage (Slope of the hill with waterfall and figure) im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 112.500,00 (€ 96.583,10).
