The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 1,500.00 but the actual price achieved wa However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cécile Villeneuve - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Vicomtesse Geoffroy de Ruillé, in black dress with white lace underdress, pink rose and foliage at corsage, globular gold bell suspended on a black ribbon choker, pink rose and foliage and black lace veil falling from her upswept blond hair, which sold at auction in May 2004 for GBP 16,730.00 (€ 25,101.16).
