Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Blanche Outhenin-Chalandre, née Blache (1831-1882), in black dress with white lace collar decorated with blue flowers, black lace veil worn across her shoulders, fair upswept hair dressed in a plait by Cécile Villeneuve was sold in the Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction at Christies in London in June 2008. The price achieved of GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,580.04) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cécile Villeneuve achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Vicomtesse Geoffroy de Ruillé, in black dress with white lace underdress, pink rose and foliage at corsage, globular gold bell suspended on a black ribbon choker, pink rose and foliage and black lace veil falling from her upswept blond hair in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 16,730.00 (€ 2

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cécile Villeneuve erzielen.
