Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Unknown by Cécile Villeneuve was sold in the Centuries of Style: Silver, European Ceramics, Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction at Christies in London in November 2009. The price achieved of GBP 2,500.00 (€ 2,735.93) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by Cécile Villeneuve have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Vicomtesse Geoffroy de Ruillé, in black dress with white lace underdress, pink rose and foliage at corsage, globular gold bell suspended on a black ribbon choker, pink rose and foliage and black lace veil falling from her upswept blond hair in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 16,730.00 (€ 25,101.16).
