Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Unknown by Cécile Villeneuve was sold in the Centuries of Style: Silver, European Ceramics, Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction at Christies in London in November 2009. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,750.00 (€ 1,915.15), 17% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cécile Villeneuve achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Vicomtesse Geoffroy de Ruillé, in black dress with white lace underdress, pink rose and foliage at corsage, globular gold bell suspended on a black ribbon choker, pink rose and foliage and black lace veil falling from her upswept blond hair in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 16,730.00 (€ 25,101.16).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Vicomtesse Geoffroy de Ruillé, in black dress with white lace underdress, pink rose and foliage at corsage, globular gold bell suspended on a black ribbon choker, pink rose and foliage and black lace veil falling from her upswept blond hair im Mai 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.730,00 (€ 25.101,16).
