Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2021 Christies held the auction European Art Part I, which included the work Reading by Candlelight by Carl Vilhelm Holsøe. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 43,750.00 (€ 37,872.23) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carl Vilhelm Holsøe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Artist's Wife sitting at a Window in a sunlit Room, which sold at auction in October 2015 for USD 167,000.00 (€ 151,240.72).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2021 führte Christies die Auktion European Art Part I durch, in der auch die Arbeit Reading by Candlelight von Carl Vilhelm Holsøe zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 37.872,23) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Carl Vilhelm Holsøe mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Artist's Wife sitting at a Window in a sunlit Room beobachtet, die im Oktober 2015 für USD 167.000,00 (€ 151.240,72) versteigert wurde.
