Auction result well in line with expectations
The work View of the Roman Forum by Carl Vilhelm Holsøe was sold in the The Isabel Goldsmith Collection: Selected Pre-Raphaelite and Symbolist Art auction at Christies in London in July last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,040.00 (€ 6,018.66) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Carl Vilhelm Holsøe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Artist's Wife sitting at a Window in a sunlit Room in October 2015 with an auction result of USD 167,000.00 (€ 151,240.72).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit View of the Roman Forum von Carl Vilhelm Holsøe wurde im Juli letzten Jahres in der Auktion The Isabel Goldsmith Collection: Selected Pre-Raphaelite and Symbolist Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 5.040,00 (€ 6.018,66) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Carl Vilhelm Holsøe erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Artist's Wife sitting at a Window in a sunlit Room im Oktober 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 167.000,00 (€ 151.240,72).
