Auction result well in line with expectations
In July last year Sothebys in London held the auction European & British Art, Part I, which included the work By the Window by Carl Vilhelm Holsøe. The price achieved of GBP 35,280.00 (€ 42,130.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carl Vilhelm Holsøe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Artist's Wife sitting at a Window in a sunlit Room, which sold at auction in October 2015 for USD 167,000.00 (€ 151,240.72).
