Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work Palo Verde Trees, Palm Springs by Carl Sammons was auctioned at Christies in Los Angeles in November 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,762.50 (€ 1,967.52). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carl Sammons - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Desert Bloom, Palm Springs, which sold at auction in November this year for USD 5,376.00 (€ 4,928.49).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit Palo Verde Trees, Palm Springs von Carl Sammons im November 2001 bei Christies in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.762,50 (€ 1.967,52) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Carl Sammons mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Desert Bloom, Palm Springs beobachtet, die im November diesen Jahres für USD 5.376,00 (€ 4.928,49) versteigert wurde.
