The first with 'Photographer to government' credit blindstamp and plate numbers '28', '7' in an unidentified hand in ink on the mount; 'County Borough of Southport Library' stamp on the reverse of the mount. The second with 'Photographer to government' credit blindstamp on the mount; printed number '11' on trimmed paper affixed to the mount.

Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Linnaeus Tripe achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in October 2017. In the The Odyssey of Collecting: Photographs from Joy of Giving Something Foundation auction, the work Sculpture Study, Central Museum, Madras and The Pagoda Jewels, Madura sold for USD 23,750.00 (€ 20,389.77) - well above the upper estimate of USD 9,000.00. Admittedly, works by Linnaeus Tripe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Views of India, Indonesia and Myanmar (Burma), c. 1858 in September 2017 with an auction result of USD 107,500.00 (€ 91,001.44).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Linnaeus Tripe erzielte im Oktober 2017 bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Odyssey of Collecting: Photographs from Joy of Giving Something Foundation wurde die Arbeit Sculpture Study, Central Museum, Madras and The Pagoda Jewels, Madura für USD 23.750,00 (€ 20.389,77) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 9.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Linnaeus Tripe auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Views of India, Indonesia and Myanmar (Burma), c. 1858 im September 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 107.500,00 (€ 91.001,44).
