Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Cosplayers Series: Nada At Home by Cao Fei was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,750.00 (€ 4,043.88). Admittedly, works by Cao Fei have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Silent Curse, Nada At Home, Diversionist And City Watcher (Four Works) in October 2009 with an auction result of HKD 187,500.00 (€ 16,392.75).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Cosplayers Series: Nada At Home von Cao Fei im September 2007 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.750,00 (€ 4.043,88) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Cao Fei auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Silent Curse, Nada At Home, Diversionist And City Watcher (Four Works) im Oktober 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 187.500,00 (€ 16.392,75).
