Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Cao Fei could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in September 2007 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Art Asia: China, Korea, Japan auction, the work Cosplayers Series: King Kong At Home changed hands for USD 5,625.00 (€ 3,955.97) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Cao Fei have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Silent Curse, Nada At Home, Diversionist And City Watcher (Four Works) in October 2009 with an auction result of HKD 187,500.00 (€ 16,392.75).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Cao Fei konnte im September 2007 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Asia: China, Korea, Japan wechselte die Arbeit Cosplayers Series: King Kong At Home für USD 5.625,00 (€ 3.955,97) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Cao Fei auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Silent Curse, Nada At Home, Diversionist And City Watcher (Four Works) im Oktober 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 187.500,00 (€ 16.392,75).
