Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Fina Gómez by Cândido Portinari was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 43,750.00 (€ 32,074.78) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cândido Portinari achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Meninos soltando pipas in May 2013 with an auction result of USD 1,443,750.00 (€ 1,111,603.02).
