Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2019 Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session, which included the work Automatic Drawing #1 by Calvin Marcus. Here, the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 68,750.00 (€ 61,664.72). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Calvin Marcus - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Dead Soldier, which sold at auction in May last year for USD 151,200.00 (€ 140,900.20).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2019 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session durch, in der auch die Arbeit Automatic Drawing #1 von Calvin Marcus zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 60.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 68.750,00 (€ 61.664,72) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Calvin Marcus mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Dead Soldier beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 151.200,00 (€ 140.900,20) versteigert wurde.
