Auction result well in line with expectations
In March last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Discoveries, which included this untitled work by Bjarne Melgaard. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,016.00 (€ 1,817.36) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bjarne Melgaard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work "Kill Me Before I Do It Myself" in May 2013 with an auction result of SEK 2,500,000.00 (€ 290,652.91).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Discoveries durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Bjarne Melgaard zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.016,00 (€ 1.817,36) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bjarne Melgaard erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit "Kill Me Before I Do It Myself" im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von SEK 2.500.000,00 (€ 290.652,91).
