Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Made in Britain, which included the work Head And Shoulders Of Augustus by Bernard Meadows. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 18,349.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Bernard Meadows have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Startled Bird in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 134,500.00 (€ 161,852.75).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Made in Britain durch, in der auch die Arbeit Head And Shoulders Of Augustus von Bernard Meadows zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 16.250,00 (€ 18.349,58) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Bernard Meadows auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Startled Bird im November 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 134.500,00 (€ 161.852,75).
