Auction result well in line with expectations
The work East Mast with Gridline Beams and Outriggers by Ben Johnson was auctioned at Christies in New York in June 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 5,159.39) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ben Johnson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Staats, which sold at auction in July 2007 for GBP 10,800.00 (€ 16,040.49).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit East Mast with Gridline Beams and Outriggers von Ben Johnson kam im Juni 2008 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 5.159,39) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Ben Johnson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Staats beobachtet, die im Juli 2007 für GBP 10.800,00 (€ 16.040,49) versteigert wurde.
