Homer Schiff Saint-Gaudens (1880-1958) was the only child of the artist. The plaque was made for Dr. Henry Schiff, a close friend of the artist, after whom the artist named his son. Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Homer Saint-Gaudens by Augustus Saint-Gaudens was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 16,250.00 (€ 13,657.76) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Augustus Saint-Gaudens achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Victory in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 2,047,500.00 (€ 1,822,267.71).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Homer Saint-Gaudens von Augustus Saint-Gaudens kam im November 2017 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 16.250,00 (€ 13.657,76) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Augustus Saint-Gaudens erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Victory im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.047.500,00 (€ 1.822.267,71).
