This artwork by Ashley Bickerton achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in November 2017. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale - Afternoon Session auction, the work L.W.S.2 sold for USD 47,500.00 (€ 39,922.68) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Ashley Bickerton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Seascape: Floating Costume to Drift for Eternity II in November 2013 with an auction result of USD 221,000.00 (€ 162,428.34).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Ashley Bickerton erzielte im November 2017 bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale - Afternoon Session wurde die Arbeit L.W.S.2 für USD 47.500,00 (€ 39.922,68) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 20.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ashley Bickerton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Seascape: Floating Costume to Drift for Eternity II im November 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 221.000,00 (€ 162.428,34).
