Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Green Painting with Boats by Ashley Bickerton was auctioned at Phillips in London in July 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,154.24). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ashley Bickerton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Seascape: Floating Costume to Drift for Eternity II in November 2013 with an auction result of USD 221,000.00 (€ 162,428.34).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Green Painting with Boats von Ashley Bickerton im Juli 2020 bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 10.000,00 (€ 11.154,24) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ashley Bickerton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Seascape: Floating Costume to Drift for Eternity II im November 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 221.000,00 (€ 162.428,34).
