Auction result misses estimated price range
In February 2005 a collector was able to acquire the work Steer Skull in Badlands of South Dakota, 1932 by Arthur Rothstein for USD 2,400.00 (€ 1,808.05). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arthur Rothstein achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Farmer and sons walking in the face of a dust storm, Cimarron County, Oklahoma in April 2001 with an auction result of USD 23,500.00 (€ 26,481.86).
