Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work 'Audrey Hepburn' by Angus McBean was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2016, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 2,500.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 8,750.00 (€ 7,647.93). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Angus McBean - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Audrey Hepburn, 1951, which sold at auction in September 2019 for GBP 16,250.00 (€ 18,336.20).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit 'Audrey Hepburn' von Angus McBean im April 2016 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 2.500,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 8.750,00 (€ 7.647,93) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Angus McBean mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Audrey Hepburn, 1951 beobachtet, die im September 2019 für GBP 16.250,00 (€ 18.336,20) versteigert wurde.
