In July 2010 Sothebys in London held the auction An Exceptional Eye: A Private British Collection, which included the work Portrait Of Colonel Josiah Cottin (1771-1843) by Andrew Plimer. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,500.00 (€ 5,410.74), 50% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Andrew Plimer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A lady called Lady Whitbread, facing left in buff-coloured dress with white underslip, pearl armlet, holding a garland of leaves flowing from her dark curling hair in her right hand in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 25,850.00 (€ 41,479.72).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2010 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion An Exceptional Eye: A Private British Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of Colonel Josiah Cottin (1771-1843) von Andrew Plimer zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.500,00 (€ 5.410,74) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Andrew Plimer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A lady called Lady Whitbread, facing left in buff-coloured dress with white underslip, pearl armlet, holding a garland of leaves flowing from her dark curling hair in her right hand im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 25.850,00 (€ 41.479,72).
