Auction result misses estimated price range
In April 2021 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait Of A Young Girl, Circa 1795 by Andrew Plimer for GBP 2,142.00 (€ 2,463.92). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Paintings and Portrait Miniatures at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 2,400.00 – 2,600.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andrew Plimer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A lady called Lady Whitbread, facing left in buff-coloured dress with white underslip, pearl armlet, holding a garland of leaves flowing from her dark curling hair in her right hand in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 25,850.00 (€ 41,479.72).
