Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Andrew Plimer could be acquired at Sothebys in London in July 2019 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Property from the Estate of Sir John and Lady Smith auction, the work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Traditionally Identified As George Smith (1765-1838) changed hands for GBP 2,375.00 (€ 2,607.59) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andrew Plimer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A lady called Lady Whitbread, facing left in buff-coloured dress with white underslip, pearl armlet, holding a garland of leaves flowing from her dark curling hair in her right hand in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 25,850.00 (€ 41,479.72).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A lady called Lady Whitbread, facing left in buff-coloured dress with white underslip, pearl armlet, holding a garland of leaves flowing from her dark curling hair in her right hand im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 25.850,00 (€ 41.479,72).
