etching, circa 1541/44, with an indistinct watermark, a very good, early impression of this rare print, the plate flaws printing as dark spots very pronounced, with much tone, before the two nail holes in the upper and lower edge, with narrow margins, 3-4 mm. margins below, in very good condition

In September 2007 Christies in London held the auction Old Master, Modern and Contemporary Prints, which included the work Christ and the Women on the Stairs (Bartsch, Richardson 14) by Andrea Schiavone. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 7,500.00 (€ 10,754.45), 50% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andrea Schiavone achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ecce Homo in January 2020 with an auction result of USD 187,500.00 (€ 169,025.51).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im September 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master, Modern and Contemporary Prints durch, in der auch die Arbeit Christ and the Women on the Stairs (Bartsch, Richardson 14) von Andrea Schiavone zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 10.754,45) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Andrea Schiavone erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Ecce Homo im Januar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 187.500,00 (€ 169.025,51).
