This artwork by Alfredo Esquillo, Jr. achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2014. In the Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings auction, the work Whisper To A Scream sold for HKD 375,000.00 (€ 34,877.43) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 180,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Alfredo Esquillo, Jr.; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Clouds, Expecting; The Drama, Unfolding sold at auction in October 2014 with the realized price of HKD 350,000.00 (€ 36,033.52).
