In October 2014 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings, which included the work The Clouds, Expecting; The Drama, Unfolding by Alfredo Esquillo, Jr.. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 350,000.00 (€ 36,033.52), 40% above the upper estimate. With this result, The Clouds, Expecting; The Drama, Unfolding is even the most expensive work of art by Alfredo Esquillo, Jr. that we have observed at auctions so far.
