This artwork by Alfredo Esquillo, Jr. achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2008. In the Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings auction, the work Autotheater sold for HKD 125,000.00 (€ 12,714.87) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alfredo Esquillo, Jr. - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Clouds, Expecting; The Drama, Unfolding, which sold at auction in October 2014 for HKD 350,000.00 (€ 36,033.52).
