Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2002 Christies in London held the auction British, Victorian and Scottish Pictures including Pictures, which included the work Figures by a river in a continental town by Alfred Montague. The price achieved of GBP 2,115.00 (€ 3,457.47) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Other works by Alfred Montague have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in November 2003 the work A blustery day in the estuary was auctioned for GBP 3,760.00 (€ 5,397.54).

Im März 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion British, Victorian and Scottish Pictures including Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Figures by a river in a continental town von Alfred Montague zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 2.115,00 (€ 3.457,47) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben worden.
