Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2011 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work A hay barge and a hulk off a rocky coastline; and A hay barge leaving a Dutch harbour on a blustery day (illustrated) by Alfred Montague. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,800.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,287.01). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alfred Montague - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A blustery day in the estuary, which sold at auction in November 2003 for GBP 3,760.00 (€ 5,397.54).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A hay barge and a hulk off a rocky coastline; and A hay barge leaving a Dutch harbour on a blustery day (illustrated) von Alfred Montague zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 1.800,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 2.000,00 (€ 2.287,01) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Alfred Montague mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A blustery day in the estuary beobachtet, die im November 2003 für GBP 3.760,00 (€ 5.397,54) versteigert wurde.
