In May 2004 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Paintings, which included the work Horsemen by a stream by Alexis de Leeuw. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,629.00 (€ 3,944.47), 46% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alexis de Leeuw - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Winter scene, which sold at auction in November 2001 for GBP 6,110.00 (€ 9,722.93).

Im Mai 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Horsemen by a stream von Alexis de Leeuw zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.629,00 (€ 3.944,47) und damit 46% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Alexis de Leeuw mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Winter scene beobachtet, die im November 2001 für GBP 6.110,00 (€ 9.722,93) versteigert wurde.
