Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Extensive view of Lake Geneva with Mont Blanc beyond, figures in the foreground by Alexander Nasmyth was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,182.84). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alexander Nasmyth achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View of Dreghorn Castle, Midlothian, with figures and a hay cart in the foreground in October 2005 with an auction result of GBP 72,000.00 (€ 106,178.24).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Extensive view of Lake Geneva with Mont Blanc beyond, figures in the foreground von Alexander Nasmyth im Juli 2020 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 3.750,00 (€ 4.182,84) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alexander Nasmyth erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit View of Dreghorn Castle, Midlothian, with figures and a hay cart in the foreground im Oktober 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 72.000,00 (€ 106.178,24).
